Why use PressBuddy QR Generator
What is a QR code?
A QR (Quick Response) code is a two-dimensional matrix barcode invented by Denso Wave in 1994. It encodes data in a grid of black-and-white modules that smartphone cameras can decode instantly. Unlike 1D barcodes, a single QR code can store up to 7,089 numeric digits, 4,296 alphanumeric characters, or 2,953 bytes of binary data β enough for URLs, vCards, WiFi credentials, calendar events, payment links, and more.
Supported content types
- URL / Link: websites, landing pages, app store links, social profiles.
- Plain text: notes, messages, coupon codes, promo copy.
- WiFi: SSID + password, WPA/WPA2/WEP/open, hidden networks.
- Email: pre-filled recipient, subject, and body (
mailto:). - Phone & SMS: one-tap calling (
tel:) or pre-written texts. - vCard contact: name, organization, phone, email, address, website.
- Geo location: latitude / longitude coordinates for maps.
Error correction levels
QR codes use ReedβSolomon error correction so they stay readable even when partially damaged, dirty, or covered by a logo. Pick the level that matches your environment:

Privacy-first & offline-capable
Every QR code is generated 100% inside your browser using client-side JavaScript. Your URLs, messages, and WiFi passwords never leave your device and are never sent to PressBuddy servers. Because the codes are static (not dynamic redirect links), there is nothing to expire, nothing to subscribe to, and no third party that can shut them off.
Popular use cases
- Restaurant menus, pricing sheets, and table ordering

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the PressBuddy QR Code Generator really free?
Yes β 100% free forever. No signup, no credit card, no trial limit, and no watermark on downloads. Generate as many QR codes as you need in SVG, PNG, or JPEG.
Do the generated QR codes ever expire?
No. PressBuddy creates static QR codes, which encode the destination directly into the QR pattern. There is no redirect server in the middle, so the code will keep working as long as the destination (your URL, WiFi password, vCard, etc.) itself is valid. Many commercial "dynamic" QR generators expire codes behind paywalls β we don't.
Can I download the QR code as SVG?
Yes. SVG is our recommended default format. True vector SVG scales to any size without pixelation β ideal for print, billboards, and design tools like Figma, Illustrator, or Affinity Designer. Just pick "SVG" in the format selector and click Download.
Do you track what I put in my QR codes?
No. QR generation happens entirely in your browser. Your URLs, passwords, vCards, and messages are never transmitted to PressBuddy or any third party. There are no tracking pixels, no scan analytics, and no hidden redirects.
What is QR code error correction and which level should I pick?
Error correction lets a QR code be read even if part of it is damaged or covered. Levels are L (~7%), M (~15%), Q (~25%), and H (~30%). Use M for most print, and H if you plan to overlay a logo in the center of the code.
Can I add a logo to my QR code?
Yes. Upload any image in the Customize panel and it will be placed in the center. For best scanning reliability, set error correction to H (30%) and keep the logo under 25% of the code area.
What is the maximum data a QR code can store?
A Version 40 QR code with L-level error correction can store up to 7,089 numeric digits, 4,296 alphanumeric characters, or 2,953 bytes of binary data. In practice, keep URLs under 100 characters for the cleanest, easiest-to-scan codes.
